30 Limiting Beliefs That Prevent Financial Success

In over 10 years as an EFT practitioner and mindset coach, I’ve seen it more times than I can count. Smart, talented, creative, hard-working people who simply cannot achieve their financial goals no matter how hard they try. What do all of these people have in common? You guessed it: Limiting beliefs. And not just limiting beliefs about money. As you’ll see from the list below, all kinds of limiting beliefs hold people back financially. Below are the ones I’ve seen the most frequently over the years.

“Money is a beautiful tool that can be used for tremendous good.” — Marie Forleo

HOW TO GET AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FROM THIS ARTICLE To make sure that limiting beliefs aren’t squelching your earning power, take 2 minutes to read through these beliefs, and identify the ones that resonate with you. This simple exercise could literally change your life, so give yourself this time. You deserve it! You may notice that even though you don’t agree with a particular belief, it resonates with you emotionally. If that happens, that’s an indication that the belief is your emotional truth, and as such, it can and will have a detrimental effect on your earning potential. That’s the bad news. The good news is that by tapping it out, either on your own or with your EFT practitioner, you can remove the belief so that it will no longer interfere with your efforts to earn more money. The best way to determine if you have the belief is to ask yourself the following question:

“On a scale of 0 to 10, how true does this statement FEEL to me?”

If the answer is anything other than 0, you believe the statement to some extent, and if you believe it, it is affecting you.

PLEASE NOTE

When doing EFT tapping on your own, if you aren't able to completely heal the issue you're working on, so that when you think about it, it no longer causes any stress, emotional pain, anger, or fear, I recommend working with a professional EFT practitioner. THE BELIEF STATEMENTS

I’ll never be able to earn __________ a year. I’m not smart enough to make __________ a year. Wanting to make more money is selfish. I’m a bad person. No one believes in me. I’m not talented enough to make __________ a year. I’m too fat/thin/tall/short/old/young to make __________ a year. I’m not educated enough to make the kind of money I want to make. People from my background don’t make the kind of money I dream of making, so why bother trying? Only materialistic people want to be wealthy. Making more money is not a worthwhile goal. Money is power, and power corrupts. In order to make ___________ a year, I’d have to work so much that I wouldn’t have time for anything else. Wealthy people are jerks. Money corrupts people. If I become wealthy, my loved ones will resent me for it. I’m destined to be poor. I don’t deserve to be prosperous. I’m not worthy of making a good living. Money is the root of all evil. I’ve never been good with money, and I never will be. It’s not spiritual to make a lot of money. Being poor keeps me humble. Being poor is my destiny. I don’t have what it takes to earn a really good living. I’ll never be able to earn the kind of money I dream of, so why bother even trying? If I earn more than my mom/dad/husband/wife, it will put a strain on our relationship. If I become wealthy, I’ll start acting like an entitled jerk. Having money would stress me out—at least now I have nothing to lose. Rich people think they’re better than everyone else. No matter how hard I try, I’ll never be able to earn __________ a year.
