Tapping Script for Eliminating Imposter Syndrome

Discouraged Woman Laptop Photo October 15, 2023.png

Imposter syndrome is incredibly common, and it's incredibly damaging to your confidence.

It’s also insidious—it may be holding you back in signficant ways, and you may not even know it.

It can take many different forms, and it can be absolutely paralyzing in its effects, preventing you from taking action on your goals, and sometimes even keeping you from setting goals at all.

It often sounds like:

  • I don’t have enough experience to help my clients/customers.

  • I’m not qualified enough to achieve my business goals.

  • Other people in my field think I’m not good enough.

  • All of my training can never make up for the fact that I didn’t finish my degree.

If you have imposter syndrome, unpacking it and tapping it out  will help you make the income and impact you’re truly capable of.

Here's why:

  • Imposter syndrome keeps you from taking the actions which would actually make it possible for you to achieve your goals.

  • Imposter syndrome makes you play small.

  • Imposter syndrome makes you feel bad about yourself.

  • Imposter syndrome dims your light in those moments when you most need to shine (think networking events, sales calls, interviews, etc.)

The good news is that imposter syndrome can be totally eliminated with EFT.

Much like a malware program running on your computer, it can be deleted.

All you have to do is uncover, unpack, and tap out the various aspects of it.

Once you’ve done that, imposter syndrome will no longer be preventing you from achieving your goals and realizing your dreams.

In this tapping script, I've unpacked the most common aspects of imposter syndrome, so that all you have to do is tap them out.

So let’s get tapping!

HOW TO USE THIS TAPPING SCRIPT

As with all of my tapping scripts, these statements can be used as is, or modified in any way that makes them resonate more fully with your experience.

Some of them will fit for you, and some will not. Just use the ones that fit your experience and have an emotional charge.

You may notice that when you start tapping on these statements, thoughts and feelings will arise that you can then turn into new tapping statements, which will then give rise to still more thoughts and feelings, which you can use to create additional tapping statements, and so on.

I call this following the thread, and it’s a very efficient way to heal and release a lot of painful feelings in a short amount of time.

Before you start tapping on a statement, give it a number between 0 and 10 which indicates the level of fear, stress, or concern that the statement brings up for you.

Then, do your best to tap on the statement until it is a 0, which means all of the emotional charge is gone.

There is a lot of material here! I recommend spending anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes on this, but not more than that.

That means you’ll only have time to tap out a small number of the statements on this script in one session.

If you’re thorough, and tap things down to 0, you’ll likely feel MUCH better after tapping out just a few of them. You can attend to other ones at another time.

PLEASE NOTE

When doing EFT tapping on your own, if you aren't able to completely heal the issue you're working on, so that when you think about it, it no longer causes any stress, emotional pain, anger, or fear, I recommend working with a professional EFT practitioner. THE TAPPING STATEMENTS

Imposter syndrome makes it harder for me to achieve my goals.

When I’m in a professional setting, often feel like I don’t really belong there.

When I’m in a consultation with a prospective client, I feel like I’m not good enough.

When I’m in a consultation with a prospective client, I feel like they will think I’m not good enough.

Even though I’m very accomplished, I feel like I don’t measure up.

I’ve had some experiences in life which made me feel like I wasn’t good enough.

I worry that I’m not qualified enough to do the work that I’m doing.

I’m afraid that my colleagues think that I don’t really belong here.

I’m afraid that my colleagues think that I’m underqualified.

I’m afraid that my colleagues think I’m not good at my job.

I’m afraid that my target audience thinks I’m not good enough.

Sometimes I worry that my clients think I’m not good at my job.

Sometimes I worry that my clients think I’m underqualified.

I know that I’m qualified to do this work, but my confidence gets really shaky.

Talking to certain clients makes me feel really self-conscious.

When people see my ads, they’ll think that if I’m really good at what I do, I wouldn’t need to do marketing.

If certain people see my ads, they won’t respect me or the work that I do.

I worry that certain people in my industry think I’m a fraud.

People think I’m a fraud because I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Part of me believes that I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Part of me believes that I’m not good enough at the work that I do.

I’m not talented enough to achieve my professional goals.

I’m not smart enough to achieve my professional goals.

Not having a college degree makes me feel like a fraud.

Not having a certain amount of education makes me feel like a fraud.

When I’m at professional events, I often feel like I don’t belong there.

My imposter syndrome makes it hard for me to talk to people at professional events.

Because of my imposter syndrome, I often avoid professional events.

I don’t really interact with other people in my field because I’m afraid that they don’t respect me or the work that I do.

My imposter syndrome makes me feel like an outsider in my field.

My imposter syndrome makes me feel like I have something to prove.

If I was better at my job, my calendar would be full all the time.

I avoid networking events because I’m afraid people will think I’m a fraud.

I feel like I’m not as good at my job as other people in my field are.

I don’t really put myself out there because I worry that I’ll be criticized for it.

Whenever a client stops working with me, I assume it’s because I’m not good enough at my job.

Whenever a prospect doesn’t sign with me, I think it’s because they think I’m not good enough.

Imposter syndrome keeps me from doing a lot of marketing stuff that I really want to do.

Sometimes I don’t tell people about my work because I’m afraid they’ll think I’m a fraud.

Even though I’m highly qualified, I don’t feel very confident about what I have to offer.
