How to Heal the Wounds of the Past with EFT

As long as we're carrying the past around inside us, it will continue to affect our present day lives--the choices we make, how we see the world, how we see ourselves, and the extent to which we're able to realize our full potential.

This is just what happens to us as human beings; it's not a choice, and it's not our fault.

It's like those heavy painful experiences are stuck inside of us, and until they're released, they continue to weigh us down, cause us to suffer, and hold us back in countless ways.

Though the weight of our emotional baggage can feel overwhelming at times, everyone has a finite number of painful experiences to tap out, and once you've tapped something out, it is permanently healed.

It's helpful to keep this in mind, especially if you've had a lot of trauma, because it can feel like there's an infinite amount of pain, unhelpful patterns (trauma responses), and issues to deal with.

Think of all of your pain as being like a suitcase filled with upsetting memories, regrets, resentments, and fears.

Every time you neutralize a painful memory with EFT, it's like removing one of those items from the suitcase, so now it is a bit emptier, and you are a bit freer.

If you are, for example, working on healing your childhood trauma, eventually that suitcase will be empty, and you will be totally free from the pain that trauma has been causing you your entire life.

The same goes for tapping to heal grief (or anything else).

Every time you do EFT about that loss, you're removing some items from that grief suitcase, and before long, it will be empty, and you will no longer be suffering from it.

Your Life Without the Painful Wounds of the Past

Can you imagine what it would be like to be completely free from the painful parts of your past?

Can you imagine how much lighter you would feel, and how much easier it would be to realize your potential? If healing every part of your painful past seems daunting, keep in mind that all you have to do is take it one painful memory at a time. Again, no matter how many painful experiences you've had, there is a finite number of them, and they can all be healed with EFT. Remember the suitcase filled with pain. Every time you you tap out a painful memory, that suitcase will have a little less pain in it than it did before. If you keep at it, before long, that suitcase will be empty, and you will be free!

Please Note When doing EFT tapping on your own, if you aren't able to completely heal the issue you're working on, so that when you think about it, it no longer causes any stress, emotional pain, anger, or fear, I recommend working with a professional EFT practitioner.
